Insights are key pieces of information that Pulse thinks you would like to know about or act on. You'll find them on right hand side of the dashboard, as list of icons under the title 'Insights'.
This article explains how to use Insights and Alerts to increase your profitability. If you have any questions about how to use Pulse, you can email us on support@markethub.ie and we would be happy to help.
How to interact with Insights
Each insight can be clicked to bring you to a grid where you have the options to act on the items in the grid. You can select a product in the grid by clicking the checkbox to act on, or exclude the product item. What the action is varies depending on the insight. But we'll go into the basics of how to exclude and act below. These are the basic actions you can take on any insight.
Note: If you want to view any image in this article in more detail, you can right click the image and click 'View in new tab'.
Exclusions
Sometimes Pulse makes suggestions on products in your store that you may not want to action. For example, there may be some products in your store that you cannot change the price on, like cigarettes or newspapers, and these may come up in the Price Increase Suggestions insights. You can tell Pulse to exclude a specific product, or the whole category (e.g. Tobacco) so that it is instantly excluded from appearing in that insight again.
To to do this, tick the selection box on the left next to the product's name and then click the 'exclusions' button. You'll have the option to exclude the product, or the category - so that nothing from that category comes up again.
If you exclude a product accidentally, or decide you want to move something out of exclusions, you can click 'Review Exclusions' under the 'Exclusions' button to manage products you have already excluded.
Actions
Outside of exclusions, you also have the option to take action on the insights that Pulse presents you with. These actions vary based on the insight you click into but will consist of at least one of the below:
Match RSP
By selecting 'Match RSP', you are telling Pulse that you have accepted its suggestion to change to the Recommended Selling Price. You will need to update the price in your ePoS system and Pulse will wait for this change to come through in the next night's data.
Once Pulse recognises that you have accepted the price suggestion in the actions button and that you have matched this price in your till system, it will then automatically set up a campaign to track the impact of this change which you can view on the Campaigns Page.
Split the Difference
Taking this action tells the system you are going to act upon the price suggestion but want to increase the price by only half the suggested amount. You will need to update the pricing in the till manually after you take the action, and Pulse will track the impact of this change.
Once Pulse recognises that you have accepted the price suggestion in the Pulse and that you have matched this price in your till system, it will then automatically set up a campaign to track the impact of this change which you can view on the Campaigns Page.
Add to Campaign
You may want to add selected products to a campaign, this might be nothing to do with the insight itself - maybe you want to add it to a Merchandising or Spotlighting campaign. This is an action you can almost always take with any product in a grid.
Accept Price Suggestion
In some insights, you have the option under the 'Actions' button to accept a price suggestion. You will need to manually update the price in your till and Pulse will track the impact of this change.
Once Pulse recognises that you have accepted the price suggestion in the Pulse and that you have matched this price in your till system, it automatically sets up a campaign to track the impact of this change which you can view on the Campaigns Page.
Unlink the label
Selecting the action 'Unlink the label' disassociates the ESL (digital label) currently linked with that product from the product. You could use this if the label was marking the spot of a product that you are no longer going to stock. You can then use this label for another product in your store by re-linking it to a new product.
Learn how to link a label by reading our How to link a label guide.
Remove 'Out of Stock'
Selecting the 'Remove Out of Stock' action allows you to remove the 'Out of Stock' messaging on the digital label. This returns the label to displaying the product's price.
Clear Waste Error
This action allows you to rectify a waste figure that is recorded incorrectly in the ePoS system and has been identified by Pulse (for certain ePoS providers).
